Shima Esfandiari (b. 1977 Tehran - lives and works in Tehran) received her bachelor's degree in Painting from Tehran University of Art and Architecture. She has a history of working with color pencil, oil, printmaking techniques, and unconventional materials such as bandages layered with ink drawings. Esfandiari's work revolves around drawing, often exploring the relationship between light and shadow and the expressive potential of simple lines. Women—both as individuals and in groups—are a recurring theme in her work, reflecting resilience, fragility, and transformation. Esfandiari continues to push the boundaries of traditional drawing, creating pieces that evoke a deep sense of empathy and reflection.
