Kimiya Mirzaei (b. 1998 Tehran, Iran) received her Bachelor’s degree in Cinema from the Tehran University of Art (2022). She is an emerging painter who held her first solo exhibition at O Gallery in 2025.
Mirzaei’s works are primarily created with sprayed oil paint on paper or canvas. In this process, parts of the surface are masked with discarded paper and other materials, and through repeated spraying, the image gradually emerges. Sections are then repainted in multiple layers by repeating the same process. For her, the forms themselves and the act of painting itself are of utmost importance. Her approach to form is influenced by images of artworks she has encountered in art history books and online exhibitions. With an abstract sensibility and a spontaneous attitude, her works explore inner landscapes.
