O Gallery presents a selection of paintings by Arash Fesharaki (b. 1981 Isfahan), developed over the past three years. The works have their roots in a longer artistic process that began approximately fifteen years ago.
Through abstract, organic forms, the series explores transparency, childhood and imagination. The experience of looking at one thing through another takes shape in layers of color and form that partially conceal
and reveal one another. The use of acrylic on canvas, along with variations in paint density and layering, creates a sense of depth and shifting transparency.
The process of making the works is an important part of Fesharaki’s approach. Through repeated moments of doubt and decision-making, the forms move away from their initial, recognizable states and develop into more ambiguous and abstract compositions. Rather than working towards a predetermined image, the artist allows the forms to change throughout the process and gradually move away from their original states.
As a result, the paintings retain traces of this exploration, existing at the boundary between the familiar and the imaginary.
